Helen Suzman Boulevard road marking starts this week

Today, 17 June 2026, the City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate will commence road marking work on Helen Suzman Boulevard between Beach Road and Buitengracht Street in Cape Town. The work will take place at night between 20:00 and 05:00, from Sunday to Thursday, and is expected to be completed by the end of June, provided there are no unforeseen delays.

‘Clear and visible road markings play an important role in road safety by helping pedestrians and motorists to stay within their lanes and comply with the rules of the road. This road marking work is therefore essential to maintaining safe driving conditions along Helen Suzman Boulevard. To minimise disruption to traffic, the work will be carried out at night between 20:00 and 05:00, Sundays to Thursdays for the next two weeks. The planned road marking forms part of the City’s routine road maintenance programme aimed at improving road safety and keeping Cape Town moving,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The work includes repainting and refreshing road markings to improve visibility for both motorists and pedestrians.

Motorists are advised to travel with caution through the work area, obey temporary traffic signage, and remain alert to the presence of road workers.

Residents and business owners in the area may experience some noise during the construction period. The City apologises for any inconvenience and thanks residents, businesses and road users for their patience and cooperation while these important maintenance works are under way.
